Darlingside Performs Benefit Concert for Nacul

Sun January 30, 2011 at 2:00 PM Ends: Sun January 30, 2011 at 4:00 PM

Local “string rock” quintet Darlingside performs a benefit concert for Nacul on January 30th.

Come spend a lazy Sunday afternoon listening to the overlay of five-part vocal harmonies, classical cello-violin duets and energetic breakbeats.

Darlingside keeps audiences on their toes with exuberant stage presence, spontaneous a cappella, frequent instrument switches, mind-boggling covers and a widely eclectic, cross-genre blend of original material.

The Northampton-based group is comprised of bassist and lead vocalist David Senft, Auyon Mukharji on the violin and mandolin, Don Mitchell on guitar, Harris Paseltiner on cello and guitar, and Sam Kapala on the drums. Darlingside is a “fresh, inspired fusion” of classical, folk-rock, indie and pop. Observing the refined artistry of their sound together with their commanding stage presence, one would never guess that the band was still in its infancy. Together only one year, they have already played over 100 gigs along the East coast.

The concert at Nacul begins at 2pm with light snacks provided. Admission is $10. Advance tickets may be purchased at Food for Thought Books (106 N. Pleasant St, Amherst).

Proceeds help support Nacul’s mission to research, promote and teach principles of ecological architecture and sustainable design through internships, lectures, seminars and workshops.
